Среди них можно выделить 30-метровый весьма живописный мемориал в городке Сан-Антонио. Причем находится мемориал в самом центре города.
Что касается Кито, то этот древний город был возведен инками. Прославился он тем, что находился на задворках империи инков. Поэтому он и стал последним городом инков, который захватили солдаты Писарро. Вот только архитектурных памятников эпохи инков здесь практически нет. Зато много зданий, которые возвели конкистадоры. Тут стоит отметить, что Кито считается одним из самых красивых городов Южной Америки.
В центре города находится Президентский дворец и очень уютная площадь Независимости, к которой примыкает улица Семи Крестов. Можно сказать, что это самая интересная улица Кито. Ведь она в далеком прошлом соединяла храм Солнца с храмом Луны. Оба храма инки возвели на небольших холмах. Конкистадоры сразу же возвели на этой священной улице шесть храмов. Кроме того, они возвели огромный каменный крест немного вдали от храмов.
Самый первый храм конкистадоры построили вблизи площади рядом с источником, который в прошлом снабжал горожан водой. Но этот храм в дальнейшем был разрушен, а затем восстановлен в XIX веке. Остальные пять храмов построили в XVII веке.
Интересно, что во времена инков рядом с храмом Солнца находился рынок. И в наши дни на этом месте идет бойкая торговля. Вот только испанцы полностью снесли храм, а на его месте возвели огромный храмовый комплекс Сан-Франсиско. Здесь есть храм, монастырь, учебный корпус и кладбище.
К особенностям города еще можно отнести то, что он находится в окружении трех холмов. Поэтому с вершины любого холма открывается шикарная панорама Старого города. А все новые кварталы расположены на склонах холмов.
Рядом с Кито находится два вулкана. Причем один из них считается действующим вулканом. Последний раз Гуагуа засыпал пеплом всю округу в 1999 году.
Еще одним интересным городом Эквадора считается Куэнка, которая связана с Кито узкой дорогой между двумя горными цепями. Эта дорога фактически проходит по узкой и длинной долине, в которой живет большая часть населения Эквадора. Связано это с тем, что здесь очень плодородная земля.
В Куэнке проживает всего 250 тысяч человек. Но в городе имеется 34 церкви. Интересен город тем, что он находится на берегах сразу четырех рек, которые пересекаются между собой. Поэтому исторический центр практически полностью окружен речной водой. Большинство местных храмов возвели здесь в XIX веке. Но все их построили на фундаментах инкских культовых сооружений. Город поражает обилием музеев, книжных магазинов и научных центров. Еще можно отметить, что Куэнка является центром кустарного производства соломенных шляп. А всего в 80 км от города находятся руины инкской крепости.
Что касается природных достопримечательностей Эквадора, то к ним можно отнести амазонскую сельву, которой покрыта восточная часть страны. Вблизи амазонской сельвы находится городок Нуэва-Лоха. Из него туристы и отправляются в увлекательное путешествие по сельве. В основном туристы отправляются в путешествие на каноэ. На берегах местных рек имеются кемпинги, где можно переночевать.
